Hillel Day School, a Jewish Day School in Metropolitan Detroit, seeks a full-time, Middle School English and Language Arts (ELA)Teacher to join our team of dedicated and passionate educators.
As a member of the ELA team at Hillel, you are responsible for planning instructional activities that align with our curricular goals and meeting the needs, interests, and abilities of our students. Hillel strives to create a safe and welcoming classroom environment, conducive to learning, by building strong relationships and employing creative, effective instructional techniques. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lessons to meet curricular goals while working collaboratively with colleagues
- Maintain accurate and complete student records, including progress reports and report cards.
- Report to all duties as assigned on the provided schedule
- Foster social-emotional growth by building a classroom community
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by developing positive personal relationships and maintaining expectations and procedures
- Communicate to families about academic, social, and emotional growth
Requirements
- Previous teaching experience
- Possess a passion for literature, strong writing skills, and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in middle schoolers
- Ability to implement the best instructional practices
- Ability to use and integrate technology
- Experience with Google Drive and Google Classroom
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others
- Demonstrates professionalism, responsibility, and a strong work ethic
- Displays a positive attitude and a drive for personal excellence
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education from an accredited college or university
- Certification in Teaching preferred
- Able to lift up to 10 pounds
