Position Overview
The Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including accounting, treasury, and FP&A. This role partners closely with senior leadership and other cross-functional teams to ensure the company’s financial health, compliance, and long-term strategic growth. This role is based in our NYC corporate office (3 days in office.)
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Planning
- Develop and maintain complex operational models to forecast revenue, expenses, and cash flow, incorporating key business drivers and assumptions.
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing recommendations to improve growth trajectory and profitability.
- Conduct scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to evaluate the financial impact of strategic decisions.
- Lead annual budgeting and reforecasting processes, including company-wide cost management and departmental planning.
- Provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations to cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, month-end close, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and board reporting packages in compliance with GAAP.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory bodies and ensure timely, accurate audits.
Treasury Management
- Oversee cash flow management, working capital strategy, and liquidity planning.
- Manage relationships with banking partners and ensure compliance with any financing agreements or covenants.
- Operate as company controller, implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets and minimize financial risk.
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and mentor the finance team; set goals, provide feedback, and guide professional development.
- Identify and implement tools, systems, and processes to increase automation, accuracy, and scalability.
- Serve as a key thought partner to cross-functional leaders by providing financial insights that drive decision-making.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of progressive experience in accounting, FP&A, and treasury, including a proven track record in a management or leadership role. Experience in the retail/e-commerce sector is a plus.
- CPA, MBA or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting processes. Strong experience with ERP systems (e.g., Quickbooks) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment.
- Salary range: $175,000
Compensation for the role will be determined based candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.
