SCOPE:

The primary role of this position is to lead the Hills Bank vision of creating "Customers for Life". This position will oversee retail supervisors in branch, , retail segment and/or on our digital channels. The Regional Manager will help develop and deepen customer relationships that will foster deposit growth and strengthen our sales and service efforts, by providing direct leadership coaching, goals, and accountabilities


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Regional, branch, retail segment and digital channel sales and deposit growth goals are met. (Determined by supervision of direct reports.)
  • Working with retail staff to ensure key customer relationships are deepened and expanded through exceptional service and relationship development strategies
  • Retail staff have strong product knowledge, relationship building results with accountabilities to the bank and department goals.
  • Retail losses and other risk issues are effectively managed and are within acceptable guidelines.
  • Ensures that retail staff are actively involved in bank and community events.
  • Ensures all compliance requirements are met.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Business Development and Market Growth:

  • Direct Sales
  • Participate in customer development activities through individual and joint sales calls with others in the bank. Seek new customers by listening, identifying needs and providing solutions and timely follow up to ensure quality service.
  • Refer customers and prospects to various departments like Commercial, Home Mortgage and Trust and Wealth Management to ensure their banking needs are met.
  • Develop relationships in niche markets like schools, libraries, non-profits, etc.
  • Work directly with the Friends Club Director to support Friends Club program and membership. Give guidance and recommendations on new programs, marketing strategies, growth goals and travel.
  • Support our Digital Banking Manager by promoting the digital channel to customers and prospects as a way to encourage them to bank with us how, when and where they choose.
  • Bank and Community Events
  • Coordinate and participate in events to develop new customer relationships and grow your professional network.
  • Network to develop a personal knowledge of prospects in a variety of ways, including bank and community events, luncheons, Friends Club, Youth and Education activities, etc.
  • Marketing
    • Ensure our customer-facing staff is responding to life events by utilizing some of our resources such as baby blocks, laminations, roses, personal contacts and other ways to personalize and honor life events.
    • Work with marketing to develop specific marketing plans for the branch, or customer segment. This may include product campaigns, promotions, advertising, social media, etc. along with goals and tracking results.
    • Work directly with our Community Relations Officer on sponsorship and donation requests.

Retail Management:

  • Sales Management
    • Support the importance of sales in a community bank environment, including program development, training, goal setting, tracking and rewarding retail supervisors for effective sales efforts.
    • Champion any new technology or changes that may be happening in the banking industry to help keep our competitive advantage in the marketplace.
    • Utilize coaching and planning to set tangible sales goals, coaching plans and retail strategies for retail supervisors and their departments.
    • Assure that the retail area is actively deepening customer relationships through direct sales efforts, cross-selling and outbound contact efforts. Assist retail supervisors in working with their staff on identifying retail opportunities and referrals they have with prospects, share of wallets and top household customers.
    • Attend weekly huddles coordinated by retail supervisors to observe, coach, mentor and motivate staff to work on retail initiatives and developing customer relationships.
    • Have energy and enthusiasm to build interest and excitement in your team.
    • Be able to effectively train and assist staff to sharpen their sales skills by observing, listening and coaching to modify behavior.
    • Be able to track progress and results utilizing 90-day plans, scorecards and reports.
    • Facilitate your own team meetings, sharing the best practices, strategies and skills builders to strengthen your team.
  • Retail Administration
    • Assist in developing and implementing overall retail goals and marketing plans.
    • Hire, train and evaluate performance of retail supervisors through check-ins, goal setting, annual review process and any disciplinary action if needed.
    • Facilitate the annual budget process with bank management.
    • Submit expenses to Account with the purchase order system.
    • Assist in the development and administration of the retail variable compensation plans.

Other Duties:

  • Maintain education and professional expertise through attendance at job-related seminars, conferences and workshops.
  • Be actively involved in community organizations as a representative of the bank to build and strengthen business relationships. Board involvement with area non-profits or other groups is required.
  • May be called on to support other activities or duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A successful candidate must have supervisory experience.
  • Prefer a four-year degree or significant related business experience.
  • Five to seven years' experience in the Retail Banking field.
  • Must be a self-starter, take initiative, accept responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work independently.
  • Exhibit strong sales skills and be willing to solicit business from customers and non-customers.
  • Strong sales coaching skills, good motivational and training skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented, positive and team-oriented.
  • Must be willing to participate and take a leadership role in the community activities and events, which will include some evening and weekend hours.
  • Must be able to work under stress and handle difficult situations. This job requires skills needed in a typical office environment. This includes computer skills, communications skills, as well as utilization of office equipment. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must sign a non-compete
