What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Services Assistant - FT position at Hillsboro Area Hospital Inc?
An Environmental Services Assistant performs a variety of cleaning duties. The person will be responsible for maintaining assigned areas in a neat and sanitary condition by following appropriate schedules and utilizing proper infections control and safety standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports and promotes an environment conducive with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the hospital.
- Complete daily assignments, which include sweeping, mopping, polishing, dusting scouring, scrubbing, and disinfecting.
- Collects trash and linen from assigned areas and deposits in an appropriate place for pick-up or removal.
- Stock towels, soap, and other supply items as needed.
- Clean and stock housekeeping carts and janitor closets.
- Uses and disposes of chemicals according to directions.
- Complete additional assignments such as washing windows inside and outside, washing walls, ceilings, vents, and light fixtures.
- Performs floor maintenance including stripping, waxing, and buffing.
- Maintains a record of all supplies used.
- Assist with Plant Operation Projects as directed.
- Maintains an orderly condition of assigned work area.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patients, hospital, and physician related information
- Is knowledgeable of general hospital and department specific policies and procedures.
- Other duties may be assigned and are subject to change with or without prior notice.

Requirements:EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
- High School Diploma or GED Preferred.
- Must have the ability to follow written and verbal directions.
- Housekeeping/janitorial experience is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking.
- Required to climb, balance, stoop and kneel.
- Required to use arms, hands, and fingers for repetitive grasping, pulling, and pushing and feeling.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance.
- May be required to operate machinery, such as floor scrubbers or buffers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Potential exposure to chemicals and communicable diseases.
- Could be subject to mechanical hazards.
- Requires working in hot and cold temperatures.
- The noise level is quiet to moderate.
