Description :
A professional registered nurse who is responsible for initiating and planning the care of those individuals who have experienced an event or have disease processes related to their cardiac and / or pulmonary systems. The registered nurse is expected to possess the depth of knowledge required to plan, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of such care according to the standards of care and practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports and promotes an environment conducive with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the hospital.
- Promotes a therapeutic relationship with patients and families.
- Demonstrates ability to perform necessary skills and competencies defined by the skills checklist for Cardiopulmonary Rehab.
- Willing to work flexible, alternate, and / or additional shifts if warranted.
- Will be responsible for development and management of Cardiopulmonary Rehab (CR) and assist with the Cardiac Stress Test (CST) Lab
- Will assist in policy development and review of CR and CST lab.
- Assist with scheduling of CR and CST patients in conjunction with Cardiologist’s office.
- Ensure CR and CST are scheduled appropriately.
- Ensure orders and patient information is received from the ordering Cardiologist.
- Review diagnosis(s) provided for CR and CST to ensure it is an approved diagnosis by insurance or Medicare provider.
- Contact patients’ pre-procedure to provide appropriate instructions.
- Obtain medical information, chief complaints, medication, and diagnostic test results in preparation for procedure and document in the medical record. Notify Cardiologist of any abnormal results or concerns in a timely manner.
- Ensure consent for procedure is obtained.
- Assist with IV insertions, as needed.
- Delivery of medication by all routes and emergency medicines with a provider order.
- Perform assessment, evaluation, and monitoring during cardiac stress test.
- Gives appropriate pre and post procedure instructions to patients and documentation of education in medical record.
- Meet the expectation of the Cardiologist through providing accurate data collection from the CR and CST procedures with communication and follow up.
- Must have the ability to work independently, professionally, and respectfully with team members, providers, and patients as well as their support person(s)
- Must have excellent communication skills for all interactions.
- Must function as a positive role model while following the Standards of Behavior
- Ability to be open to change and assume additional responsibilities or tasks as directed and complete in a timely manner.
- May be cross trained to work other areas in the facility utilizing nursing skills and techniques necessary to meet patient needs and provide quality care.
