Job Summary
At Hillsboro Community Child Care Center, our mission is to provide high-quality child care that meets the needs of each child and family in a nurturing, safe, and educational environment. When you join our team as the Center Director you will be responsible for providing quality child care that meets our mission, ensure compliance with all regulations, hire and manage staff, assist with extramural funding, oversee physical facilities and the day-to-day operations of the childcare center, as well as fill vacancies when necessary.
Duties
Administrative Tasks:
- Enrollment
- Attendance
- Health and Safety Records of Children and Staff
- Supply Management
- Medical and Emergency Contact Information for Enrollees
- Behavioral Incident Records
- Prepare and Manage Financials and Budgets
Managing Staff:
- Human Resources
- Training
- Scheduling
- Staff Supervision
- Following KDHE staff-child ratio requirements
- Conducting Evaluations/Performance Reviews
Instructional Duties:
- Oversees and approves curriculum used in the childcare center classrooms
- Teaches or substitutes as needed
Parent Communication:
- Meets with parents/guardians to introduce childcare policies and curriculum
- Addresses parent/guardian concerns and questions
- Conveys any policy change to parents/guardians
- Talks with parents/guardians regarding behavioral concerns, injuries or other incidents
Compliance Duties:
- Responsible for compliance with all licensing and safety regulations
- Update licensing paperwork
- Work with surveyor during inspection
- Keep all employee records up to date to ensure they comply with licensing and continuing education requirements
- Writes policies and plans for addressing the various types of emergencies that could occur in the childcare center setting
- Institutes fire and disaster preparedness drills as required by law
Qualifications
1. Must meet education and experience guidelines stated in the Kansas Child Care Licensing and Registration Laws for facilities with 24 or more children, such as one of the following:
- BA or BS in Early Childhood AND 3 months experience.
- BA or BS in non-related field AND 12 hrs college credit in early childhood OR 6 months experience OR child development associate credential OR technical certificate/diploma in Early Childhood.
- 12 Semester hours of college credit in early childhood AND 6 months experience OR child development associate credential OR technical certificate/diploma in Early Childhood.
- Child Development Associate credential (CDA) AND 1 year experience.
- 6 Years experience.
*Experience means teaching experience in a licensed center or preschool.
2. Must meet all KDHE training requirements, such as comprehensive Background Check, Initial Health and Safety Training, Pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED Certification, Orientation.
3. Must have a love for children and their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
4. Must possess outstanding customer service skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and manage multiple situations effectively.
5. Must be able to use digital technology, accounting software and a computer with basic proficiency.
6. Must be free from physical, mental, and emotional handicaps as necessary to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the children.
7. Must have the ability to build relationships with families and staff and create a dynamic environment where play and learning go hand-in-hand.
8. Preferred, but not required, that the Director lives within Marion County.
