Title: Technology Director
Minimum Qualifications:
●BS degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.
●Extensive experience implementing and managing administrative and educational systems. Experience with the integration of software systems, data mining and analysis, database design and website development.
●Broad relevant technical knowledge with regard to networking and infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers, security and Internet filtering, VOIP and similar systems.
●Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server,
group policies, account management, computer management, and printer management.
Desired Attributes:
●Five years’ experience in a Networked Computer Environment.
●Ability to manage a diverse technology team including the ability to delegate work, set clear expectations and manage workflow.
●Ability to effectively train technology users in software/hardware selection and use.
●Strong leadership, team building, interpersonal communication and relational skills, organizational and project management skills; problem solving skills; sound judgment; initiative; flexibility; detail-oriented.

Job Goal:
Strategic Planning and Management:
●Participates in a variety of planning and development activities, including district-wide
committees, for the purpose of creating short and long range plans including chairing the mandated Department of Education Technology Plan
●Recommends equipment, supplies and materials (e.g. purchase equipment, lease equipment, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring required items and completing jobs efficiently.
●Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions for the purpose of providing direction for meeting the district’s goals and objectives.
●Plans, articulates and manages District technology budget which includes development of a preventative /maintenance schedule for District equipment.
Infrastructure and Operations:
●Responsible for maintaining 24/7 accessibility to the network of the District.
●Administers and evaluates network servers and connectivity performance to identify and resolve conflicts for the purpose of ensuring availability of services to authorized users.
●Responsible for all computer technology VHF Radios and repeater systems and telecommunication resources of the Hillsboro-Deering School District.
●Installs network (client and server) software on a variety of platforms (e.g. service packs, application software, operating software, hardware upgrades, etc.) for the purpose of upgrading and maintaining District WAN/LAN and telecommunication systems.
●Maintains network operations and software applications (e.g. servers, file, print, application, WEB, database, proxy, etc.), operating systems, district wide server backup, routine maintenance programs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring efficient operations.
●Manage the Districts’ 1-to-1 Chromebook program. This includes managing all devices and user permissions in the Google management console.
●Frequent collaboration with the DIrector of Facilities.
Team and Leadership Development:
●Directs department personnel for the purpose of prioritizing project deadlines and ensuring optimal utilization of personnel.
●Performs personnel administrative functions (e.g. hiring, training, supervising, evaluating, providing professional development opportunities, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and ensuring department outcomes are achieved.
●Active member of the district leadership team.
●Facilitates the work of the District Technology Committee
Educational Technology Integration:
●Collaborate with Director of Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment and building level administrators to facilitate the integration of technology in teaching and learning
●Maintains open and productive communication links within and between schools including faculty and administration with respect to technical needs, objectives, and performance.
●Stays abreast of latest developments in IT concepts, practices and procedures particularly as they relate to education.
●Use knowledge of digital tools and technologies applications to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation.
●Promote and use digital tools and assistive technologies that provide equitable access for all school community members
●Facilitate access to digital resources that promote cross-cultural awareness and connections in a global world
●Coordinate with the Library/Media Specialist in the development and evaluation of an information and communication technologies literacy (ICT)
Support and Troubleshooting:
●Assesses incidents, complaints and/or accidents for the purpose of resolving or recommending a resolution to the situation.
●Develop and manage technology support services for students, teachers, and staff
●Ensure timely resolution of technical issues and service requests
Compliance and Security:
●Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations regarding technology and use of data privacy
●Implement and manage cybersecurity measures to protect district data and systems
●Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Communication:
●Prepares written materials (e.g. procedures, system level documentation, reports, memos, letters, budgets, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
Innovation and Trends:
●Manages assigned projects and program components (e.g. migration to new systems, scheduling installations, product research, etc.) for the purpose of delivering services in compliance with established guidelines and/or objectives.
●Researches trends, products, equipment, tests, etc. for the purpose of recommending procedures and/or purchases
Working Environment:
●Travel from site to site.
