The final action is approved by a supervisor. This position has little to no planning responsibility beyond the need to schedule own work and determine impediments to own work schedule.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE (Minimum Qualifications)
All educational assistants or others employed or contracted in that capacity must
Have a high school diploma or the equivalent; Be at least 18 years of age; Bilingual(would have to pass an assessment with an advanced low level score to qualify) Have standards of moral character as required of teachers (OAR 584-005- 0005)
Title 1A Educational Assistants must have
Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; or obtained an Associate's (or higher) degree; or met a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate through a formal state, or local academic assessment or para-educator certificate program, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing: Reading, writing, and mathematics; or reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate (Assessment is offered by District). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1-2 years experience working as an educational assistant in a k-12 school district. Some college coursework. Previous experience learning to speak and write in a second language.
COMPENSATION Wage Schedule: $19.02-$24.35/hr only after successful completion of assessment. Wage scale will be $17.28-$21.54/hr until then. Work days: 180 (10 month) Medical, dental and vision insurance Life insurance, AD&D, Long term disability included (Optional insurances available) Personal days, Sick days JCSD 509-J pays the employee's share (6%) of the Public Employees Retirement System Contribution
