Summary :
The Technician, Pest Control, will perform skilled work in the operation of pest control in or around all district buildings and facilities. This is a non-OTETA (Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act) position.

The district accords preference in selection, retention, and promotion procedures to certain veterans and spouses of veterans who are Florida residents.
Certificates / Licenses / Registrations : Requires Limited Structural Pest Control Certification and / or Limited Lawn and Ornamental Certification for Pest Control. Required to obtain both certifications within 90 days of hire date. Must possess a Class E driver's license and comply with district's Safe Driver Plan. Must pass district's Respirator Fitness testing requirement.
Language Skills : Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence. Speaks effectively before groups of individuals.
Mathematical Skills : Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability : Applies understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deals with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills : Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Physical Activities : Standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, crawling, handling, keyboarding, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
Lifting Demands : Up to 55 pounds.
Reaching Activities : Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
Environmental Conditions : Extreme cold, extreme heat, wet / humid, noise intensity 4 loud, work with cleaning chemicals, wear eye protection, vibration / impact, work with or near heavy equipment, proximity to moving mechanical parts, exposure to electrical shock, and working in high exposed places.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS : Eligibility for interview requires the successful passing of a written and / or physical test verifying knowledge of basic terms and / or tools and their use.
