Job Overview
The Hillsborough County Community and Infrastructure Planning Department is seeking a Principal Planner to serve as a project manager and team support for projects that involve a comprehensive approach to planning that integrates land use and transportation along with other infrastructure to build and improve communities in Hillsborough County.
The ideal candidate will be able to work with team members, County departments and consultants to contribute to and provide supporting documentation to complete the projects.
The Principal Planner position will manage traffic monitoring projects and programs for the Department, including ongoing traffic counts, Level of Service Report updates, and developing analysis and comments related to the Comprehensive Plan Amendment process for Unincorporated Hillsborough County as well as for County input on amendments proposed for Hillsborough County’s municipalities.
A fundamental understanding of Motor Vehicle traffic analysis and planning processes are necessary for this position, as well as a grounding in multimodal concerns and “complete streets” principles. Must have the ability to write and speak clearly to convey concepts in a one-on-one basis and to a variety of audiences. Must be able to work autonomously and in a team environment.
