Work Schedule and Shift Premiums
- We offer several shifts in our 24/7 facilities which include short term rehab / acute hospital care in our McGuire Unit, and residential care in our MacRitchie Unit. Will be able to provide your caregiver skills in both areas and may even be able to cross train on other floors if needed.
- Full-Time is 36 hours/week (three 12-hour shifts), including every other weekend
- Day shift is 5:45 am – 6:15 pm | Night Shift is 5:45 pm - 6:15 am
- Part time is 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm 4 days per week
- Casual / PRN / per diem is hired as a variable hour employee who works at the
discretion of Hillsdale Hospital and is not entitled to benefits.-
- Per Diem Employees provide replacement coverage for scheduled and unscheduled time off,
holidays, and leaves of absence.
1. Availability requirements.
a. Per diem employees shall be available for a minimum of three (3) shifts per month,
including one (1) twelve (12) hour weekend shift
b. Per diem employees shall be available for a minimum of twelve (12)
holiday hours annually with these hours being counted toward satisfying the
applicable availability hours.
c. Per diem employees shall be available for the entirety of the designated shift within
their assigned department with the exception of day-of staffing needs.

- S.B. 690 special premium for skilled nursing is $3.40/hour
- 2nd shift premium is $2.00/hour, 3rd shift premium is $3.05/hour, weekend premium is an additional $2.00/hour
Qualifications for the CNA
- High school diploma or equivalent required from an accredited institution
- Current Michigan Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA), otherwise must obtain one within 4 months of hire; at this time, the hospital is offering to pay the tuition for employees to get their CNA
- BLS, ACLS, CPI certifications (available through Hillsdale Hospital)
- Prior long term care experience preferred but not required
- Must possess a positive attitude toward patients and co-workers
- Must be a team player
Responsibilities of the CNA
- Assist patients with activities of daily living including grooming, bathing, eating, etc.
- Collect patient specimens and communicate to nurse
- Accurately and thoroughly perform skin assessments with ADL care following all policies, procedures and protocols regarding the prevention and treatment of skin breakdown resulting from pressure
- Maintain accurate records within the chart: graphics, I&Os, evening and weekend activity, showers, etc.
- Know and follow the patient’s plan of care and interventions
- Answer call lights and phone and communicates with the residents and families in a friendly, respectful manner
