We have an amazing opportunity for a School Counselor at our Andrew-Trahey School!
As a school counselor, you will utilize leadership, advocacy, and collaboration. This position promotes student success by providing preventive services by responding to students' needs. You will consult with teachers, parents and staff to enhance their effectiveness in helping students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Guide individuals and groups of students through the development of educational, personal, social plans
- Counsel individuals and small groups of children toward social and emotional growth
- Consult with and train teachers, parents and staff regarding children's needs;
- Refer children with problems and their parents to special programs, specialists and outside agencies
- Participate in, coordinate and conduct activities that contribute to the effective operation of the counseling program and school;
- Conduct a yearly program audit to review extent of program implementation
- Monitor student academic performance, behavior and attendance and assists with appropriate interventions
- Provides leadership in problem solving, prevention and crisis intervention
- Maintains records of contacts with staff, families and administration
Requirements:
- Master's degree in school counseling or related field
- 3 years experience as a School Guidance Counselor preferred
- Valid NYS School Counselor Certification
- Should have a valid driver's license and meet agency driving standards
