Position: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

Job Type: Full-time Opportunity

Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 2pm - 10:30pm

Starting Salary Range: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour (depending on experience and/or bilingual status)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned.
The essential functions include:

• Supervise healthcare and protect UC/minors while in their care
• Represent the nursing office at assigned weekly team meetings
• Transcribe orders, receive verbal orders as needed and send order to pharmacy per department protocols
• Administer medications as directed according to agency policy
• Administer first aid as needed
• Ensure HIPAA and best practices around handling UC confidential information
• Review lab results with Nursing Supervisor and Psychiatrist
• Review/prepare and distribute special menus in collaboration with Nursing Supervisor
• Visit and evaluate asthmatic UC/minors monthly, or more frequently if necessary, and maintain spirometer readings
• Schedule individual and group asthma teaching sessions
• Participate in programs designed to help UC/minors acquire socially acceptable habits of behavior
• Participate in programs designed to help UC/minors accept their medical conditions and handle them appropriately
• Use appropriate authority to set limits for behavior while UC/minors are in the nurses' office
• Maintain complete, accurate records of all medications administered outlined in agency policy
• Learn and become familiar with Hillsides' pharmacy recordkeeping and legalities involved
• Provide office coverage in the absence of the Nursing Supervisor
• Prepare memos and letters as needed
• Maintain UC charts as needed filing pertinent doctor appointments and psychiatric notes
• Transport UC/minors to doctor appointments as required, or for other medical needs and prepare related paperwork in conjunction with Nursing Supervisor
• Weigh and measure UC/minors and maintain monthly records
• Other duties as required

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES

• Valid California LVN licensure
• CPR Certification
• High degree of accuracy
• Valid California driver's license, driving record and personal vehicle insurance acceptable to Hillsides' insurance carrier.
• Be able to show proof of immunization or immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route, including Varicella, MMR, Tdap, & Influenza.
