Program Description: Hilltop is a private non-profit child care program operating two child care centers. Hilltop Main is located on The University of Kansas campus, serving children 1 (and walking) to 12 years of age, is Nationally Accredited, and licensed for 314 children. Hilltop West is located in close proximity to Hilltop Main and is located in The Crossing adjacent to The University of Kansas campus, serving children 8 weeks to 5 years of age and is licensed for 133 children.
Full-time Position: Full Time Assistant Teacher
Job Description:
- In partnership with the Lead Teacher, plan and implement a developmentally appropriate daily program that meets the needs and interests of children involved, both individually and as a group. Present this program through a daily schedule of play, lessons, rest, and meals which is flexible, yet maintains routine. The program should include, but not be limited to, the following areas:
· gross and fine motor
· language, cognitive, and memory
· pre-math and pre-literacy
· creative expression in music/movement, art, and dramatic play
· sensory exploration and science
· positive self-concept and social skills
· independence and self-help
· health, safety, and nutrition
· Create fun, engaging, and diverse learning environments for children.
· Adhere to Hilltop and KDHE standards regarding Positive Discipline.
· Maintain a safe and clean environment
· Follow NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct when interacting with children, families, coworkers or members of the community.
· Meet and maintain all KDHE and NAEYC standards as required by provided criteria, including careful supervision and awareness of all children at all times and excellent maintenance of health and safety.
· Assist as needed to keep the classroom running smoothly
Required Qualifications
· High School Diploma or GED equivalent
· Six months of Early Childhood classroom teaching experience
· Knowledge of developmental needs of young children
· Good interpersonal skills and effective communication skills when engaging with children, families, and coworkers
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with planning and implementing lessons
· Knowledge of Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Child Care Licensing regulations and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation criteria
Starting Pay Range: $15-$18 per hour
Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. or 8:15 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. with a 1 hour and 15 minute break
Benefits: After 60 days of employment, full-time employees accrue 5.25 hour per month of sick/personal leave and will receive paid holidays. After one year of employment, full-time employees receive 5 days of vacation. After 60 days, full-time employees are eligible for medical insurance, 90% covered by Hilltop and a $50,000 life insurance policy at no cost.
