Program Description:
Hilltop Child Development Center is a private, non-profit facility incorporated in the State of Kansas. It is federally tax-exempted as a 501C-3 educational corporation. Hilltop is licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and accredited by NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children). Hilltop is designated University Affiliated Corporation and receives some administrative and financial support from the University of Kansas.
Hilltop is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of 9 Hilltop parent members and 6 public members. The majority of whom must be KU affiliated. Hilltop is licensed to provide childcare for up to 447 children across two locations. Up to 314 children are enrolled in the main location in the heart of the KU campus and an additional 133 can be enrolled at the West facility which is conveniently located near graduate and research facilities for the University. Hilltop currently serves children ranging from 8 weeks to 12 years old.

Job Description:
Leadership and Supervision
1. Recruit, select, train, supervise and evaluate part-time aides.
2. Provide classroom support to teaching staff, including but not limited to curriculum development assistance, behavioral support needs, etc.
3. In tandem with the Executive Director and Program Director coordinate the training of all newly hired teaching staff.
4. Participate in teacher observations.
5. In collaboration with the rest of the administration team, provide a professional development and training plan that builds upon the skills and talents of the individual staff members, facilitates compliance with licensure, accreditation, and university expectations, and fosters a cohesive, unified, and mission driven team.
Child Development Center Management
1. Participate in a minimum of 16 professional development hours annually.
2. Maintain compliance with all Kansas Department of Health and Environment regulations and requirements and participate in annual licensing visit.
3. Partner with the Student Support Services Coordinator on the development and use of behavioral plans when needed and assist families with connection to community resources for additional assessment and guidance for children with individual needs.
4. Be an active and visible presence in Hilltop facilities, visit classrooms, greet families, answer questions, and participate in Hilltop events.
Operations
1. Ensure the daily schedule in classrooms maintains staff-to-child ratios.
2. Work in tandem with the Compliance Coordinator to ensure all newly hired part-time aides comply with all employment requirements, as well as track and fulfill the annual required professional development hours.
3. Support Hilltop’s social media presence strategy, providing regular updates regarding current and upcoming happenings on site.
4. Provide comprehensive and informative tours for prospective parents and teachers.
5. In collaboration with the Program Director, coordinate and facilitate regular training sessions for staff on emergency procedures, ensuring all team members are equipped to respond effectively during a crisis.
6. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or related field.
2. 2 years of full-time teaching experience at the infant, toddler, or preschool level.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated in the application and review process.
4. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
5. Meet the requirements for a licensed Program Director by KDHE as defined in K.A.R. 28-4-428a and K.A.R. 28-4-429 (c) with the ability to achieve certification within 60 days of start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. 4 years of full-time teaching experience at the infant, toddler, or preschool level.
2. Staff supervision experience.
3. Experience with curriculum development.
4. Experience with NAEYC accreditation.
Employment Location: This position is required to be on-site.
Salary Range: $45,000 annually, commensurate with experience
Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. with a 1 hour break
Benefits: After 60 days of employment, full-time employees accrue 5.25 hour per month of sick/personal leave and will receive paid holidays. After one year of employment, full-time employees receive 5 days of vacation. After 60 days, full-time employees are eligible for medical insurance, 90% covered by Hilltop and a $50,000 life insurance policy at no cost.
