Program Description: Hilltop is a private non-profit child care program operating two child care centers. Hilltop Main is located on The University of Kansas campus, serving children 1 (and walking) to 12 years of age, is Nationally Accredited, and licensed for 314 children. Hilltop West is located in close proximity to Hilltop Main and is located in The Crossing adjacent to The University of Kansas campus, serving children 8 weeks to 5 years of age and is licensed for 133 children.
Hilltop Child Development Center is a great place for children and adults to interact and experience the joy of learning. The Teacher Aide position at Hilltop is great for college students who are majoring in a child-related degree field and wanting experience or anyone who enjoys spending time with young learners. Teacher Aide schedules can be arranged around classes on a per semester basis. The Teacher Aides go into the classrooms as additional support for the regular staff and help with meals, activities, covering teacher breaks, and staffing at the beginning and end of the day.
Part-Time Position: Teacher Aide
Teacher Aide Responsibilities:
· Interacting with children in positive and caring tones.
· Follow the guidelines, routines, and structure of the classroom as directed by the teachers.
· Setting up for meals.
· Changing diapers.
· Cleaning up after meals.
· Reading and playing with the children.
· Follow KDHE licensing regulations and NAEYC accreditation criteria, including careful supervision and awareness of all children at all times and excellent maintenance of health and safety.
· Maintain a warm and nurturing atmosphere to meet the emotional and social needs of the children and families, while also applying effective, developmentally appropriate, and positive discipline methods that enable the children to grow and learn.
· Greeting parents in the event that the classroom teachers are unavailable.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or GED
· Experience working with young children (i.e. babysitter/nanny, swim instructor, tutor, etc.)
Hourly Pay: $11/hr
Hours: Flexible, Hilltop is open Monday-Friday 7:15am-5:30pm
