Position Analysis
The primary purpose for this job position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the housekeeping department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations as directed by the housekeeping supervisor. This position will assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
Summary
Cleans resident rooms, bathrooms, lounges, offices, halls and other areas by performing the following duties in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties are determined by the facility and may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Must be knowledgeable of the use and application of SDS sheets.
- Perform specific daily housekeeping tasks in accordance with daily work schedules or as assigned.
- Assure that work and cleaning schedules are followed as closely as possible.
- Assure that established Infection Control and Universal Precautions are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures.
- Must be able to assist in evacuation of residents in case of emergency.
- Washes beds and mattresses, and remakes beds after dismissal of residents.
- Keeps utility and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition.
- Replaces soiled drapes and privacy curtains.
- Disinfects equipment and supplies.
- Cleans/sanitizes resident rooms, bathrooms.
- Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and polishes floor. Cleans rugs and carpets.
- Dusts furniture and equipment. Washes walls and woodwork.
- Empties and cleans wastebaskets. Transports trash and waste to disposal area.

Other Qualifications
Must have the desire to work with convalescent, geriatric or light psychiatric residents. Will assure that the resident's rights to fair and equitable treatment, self determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are well established and maintained at all times. Must maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information. The employee shall use only the minimum necessary information to perform his or her responsibilities. Trust worthiness, loyalty, fairness, honesty and reliability must be one of his/her best assets.
Exposure Risk
This position carries a risk for blood borne pathogen (BBP) exposure. Must practice appropriate engineering and work practice controls, including standard precautions and hand hygiene. Must use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Hepatitis B vaccine is recommended.
