Job Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) plays a crucial leadership role in overseeing the nursing department within a healthcare facility, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and compliance with regulatory requirements. Duties
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for residents, ensuring they meet their medical and emotional needs.
- Oversee the daily operations of the nursing department, including staffing, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to nursing home operations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology and acute care practices to provide guidance to nursing staff.
- Advocate for resident rights and ensure that all staff members are trained on these principles.
- Lead nursing staff meetings to discuss policies, procedures, and best practices in patient care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care for residents.
- Monitor quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of care within the facility.
Experience
- A valid Texas RN license with extensive experience in nurse management within a nursing home or similar healthcare setting.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, acute care practices, and HIPAA regulations.
- Experience in developing care plans that align with best practices in resident-centered care.
- Familiarity with systems used in healthcare settings to track patient information and outcomes.
