Black Lung Education Outreach Specialist – Job Duties
Overview: The Black Lung Education Outreach Specialist is responsible for distributing educational
materials related to black lung disease, ensuring that miners and their families have access to crucial
health information. This role involves engaging with miners, answering basic questions about black
lung disease, and directing individuals to appropriate healthcare resources, and scheduling patients in
the EHR to be seen by Healthcare Providers.
Key Responsibilities:

• Distribute black lung educational materials at clinics, community events, and outreach

locations.

• Provide basic explanations about black lung disease, its symptoms, and available medical

resources.

• Direct individuals to appropriate healthcare providers, patient advocacy groups, and legal

resources as needed.

• Maintain accurate records of materials distributed and interactions with the public.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to enhance awareness efforts.
• Uphold confidentiality and professionalism when handling patient inquiries.
• Scheduling patients in EHR.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring miners receive the education they need to seek
appropriate care and support for black lung disease.
