We are currently seeking a part-time (.5 FTE) Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) who shares this vision and is excited to contribute to a vibrant, child-centered, and collaborative school community.
Position Overview
The Occupational Therapist or COTA at Hilltown works as part of our Student Services team to support the development of fine motor, sensory, self-regulation, and functional life skills for students across grades K–8. The therapist or assistant collaborates closely with classroom teachers, special educators, and families to ensure that students with diverse learning profiles can fully access the school’s curriculum and environment. This position includes a mix of direct service, consultation, and collaboration.
The anticipated start date for this position is August 20, 2025.
We are looking for a practitioner who brings warmth, flexibility, strong communication skills, and a student-centered approach to therapy. A successful candidate will be passionate about supporting student growth in developmentally appropriate, engaging, and inclusive ways.
Minimum Qualifications (OT or COTA):
For Occupational Therapists: Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, current MA license to practice as an OT
For COTAs: Associate’s degree from an accredited OTA program, current MA license to practice as a COTA
Experience working with children in educational settings
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years of experience in a school-based role
Familiarity with IDEA, IEP processes, and school-based documentation
Experience supporting students with a variety of learning, emotional, and physical needs
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative OT services to students with IEPs, consistent with their service delivery grids
Conduct or assist with evaluations as appropriate, under the supervision of a licensed OT (COTA only)
Collaborate with classroom teachers and special educators to support students’ participation in classroom routines and activities
Design and/or implement strategies, modifications, and accommodations that enhance students’ functional performance in school
Participate in IEP team meetings and contribute to the development of IEP goals and service plans
Maintain documentation of services and progress toward goals
Communicate regularly with families to support home-school collaboration
Support sensory and motor skill development across the school environment, including through classroom-based or group interventions
Participate in student support team meetings and consult with staff on student needs
Additional Expectations:
Attend and engage in faculty meetings, student services meetings, and relevant professional development
Collaborate with related service providers, administrators, and staff to promote inclusive practices
Maintain appropriate licensure, certifications, and compliance with all regulatory standards
