A Typical Day
The Quality Systems Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, maintaining and driving effectiveness of the Hilmar Quality Management System (QMS), under the SQF (Safe Quality Foods) code.
Job Responsibilities
- Executes internal system audits against defined standards and company policy, and ensures the timely execution and completion of subsequent corrective actions without delay.
- Responsible for facilitating third party and customer audits (excluding regulatory) and ensures the timely execution and completion of subsequent corrective actions, without delay. They are the primary SQF practitioner for the site.
- In the event that the Site Quality Systems Coordinator is unable to perform their food safety duties, the Food Safety Supervisor, or their designee will perform the duties.
- Responsible for site level document control against defined standards and company policy.
- Writes and modifies site level documents including but not limited to, format, grammar, and typographical corrections.
- Ensures all documents are released, reviewed, and revised as needed, and gathers appropriate approvals prior to release for use
- Follows and enforces compliance with HCC’s standard operating procedures
- Responsible for facilitating, organizing and executing traceability exercises
- Responsible for participating in mock recalls, as needed
- Brings together staff of different disciplines and drives groups to develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality processes and procedures.
- Executes the implementation and communication of HCC food safety and quality policies and goals throughout the site.
- Perform technical writing and administrative task, as needed
- Technical interpretation, guidance, and expertise for SQF (Safe Quality Foods) Code.
- Executes site procedure and policy change training, as needed.
- Project or other assignments, as required.
- Active participation and ownership in your training and development program and associated activities, classes and events, which will be held before, during, after shifts and during scheduled days off.
- Help coach and train teammates and participate in on the job, buddy training.
- Place high priority on food safety and sanitation by understanding and executing HCC’s food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Hold self and others accountable to HCC’s food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates.
- Participate in food safety and sanitation root cause analysis and improvement activities when required.
- Prioritize safety above all other job duties by having a safety first approach at all times.
- Report any safety issues, observations, opportunities to your teams and follow up.
- Participate in departmental safety teams.
- Complete annual OSHA required safety training.
- Compete annual Food Safety overview training.
- Promote Company Culture
- Achieve common business goals through cooperative alignment with all departments.
- English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write, and speak English.
- Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of related experience or equivalent experience
- Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of SQF (Safe Quality Foods) Code approved GFSI Standards.
- Knowledge of production operations, laboratory, quality, and food safety.
- Advanced industry related courses: HACCP, Internal Auditor
- PCQI and SQF Practitioner Certified
