School Bus Drivers Apply With or Without Experience

Hilton Bus is seeking part-time school bus drivers to join our team. We are committed to providing safe and reliable transportation for students and looking for drivers who share this commitment. This is a part-time, split-shift position, and no prior driving experience is necessary, as we will provide paid training ($15 an hour) to help you get started.

School Bus Drivers Responsibilities:

• Operating a school bus in a safe and responsible manner
• Following established routes and schedules
• Assisting students in boarding and exiting the bus
• Maintaining a safe and orderly environment on the bus
• Performing pre- and post-trip inspections of the bus
• Keeping accurate records of miles driven, fuel consumption, and any incidents or accidents

School Bus Drivers Requirements:

• We are looking for people with and without experience, we offer training to help you earn your CDL
• Must have a DE drivers license or able to obtain one
• Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Must pass a criminal background check and drug test
• Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and be able to assist students as needed

School Bus Drivers Compensation and Benefits:

• Hourly rate of $22 per hour after receiving a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B with Air break, School Bus, and Passenger endorsements
• $250 signing bonus after receiving the Commercial Learners Permit with endorsement (CLP)
• $250 signing bonus after receiving the Commercial Drivers License with endorsement (CDL)
• $500 after one year of driving
• Hourly rate of $15 during training
• After 3 months of driving, all employees become eligible for our 401k program

Additional Information:

In the 2023-2024 school year, upon completion of training, drivers will start at $22 an hour for 4 hours a day for a double run of High School/Middle School and an elementary school in the morning and afternoon.

Some buses may run for up to 5.5 hours a day. Typically our first bus leaves at 5:30 in the morning and the last bus returns by 9:00 in the morning. In the afternoons, our first buses typically leave at 2:00, and our last bus returns by 5:15. Buses that leave earlier typically return earlier. Our schedule mirrors the school districts that we serve (Caesar Rodney and Capital) so some weeks we may work less days during the week, or the schools may have half days.
