What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metal Fabricator - 2nd Shift position at Hilton Displays Inc?
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Metal Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, positioning, aligning, and fitting parts of structural metal products in compliance for the manufacturing of specific signage products requested by customers. The Fabricators will use specialized equipment to weld and assemble new metal parts based on blueprint specifications
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Study work order sheets, engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements and task sequences.
- Set up, maintain, and operate fabricating machinery, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders and drill presses to bend, cut, form, punch, drill or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
- Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
- Move parts into necessary position, manually or with hoists or cranes.
- Verify conformance of work pieces to work order specifications, using squares, rulers and measuring tapes.
- Utilize hand and power tools such as jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars and hammers to align and fit parts according to specifications.
- Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications by utilizing jigs, welding torches and hand tools.
- Tack weld fitted parts together as needed for formatting.
- Modify parts and/or remove high spots and cut bevels, using hand files, portable grinders and cutting torches.
- Lift or move materials and finished products to their corresponding areas using large cranes.
Job Requirements
Education: Required training in vocational school, related on-the-job experience, or High School’s Diploma/GED.
Work Experience: At least 2 (two) year of experience working in fabrication/welding. Signage manufacturing industry knowledge is preferred. Familiarity with welding tools, procedures, and engineering blueprints.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. May be required to do limited work outdoors. While performing job duties, employee may often change from one task to another of a different nature, subject to high level of stress/pressure.
Work Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Safety & Security: Responsible for following all safety, and security of, areas assigned or as directed by Hilton Displays policy. Report all accidents, however slight, to your supervisor immediately. Never leave the premises without reporting any accident that occurred during your working time. If you should need medical treatment during your non-work hours, you should contact your supervisor.

Work Hours: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM Monday – Friday OR whatever hours are required to meet the business needs of the job. The position also requires weekend work schedule for Saturdays and Sundays when production area is running.
