SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Assembly Specialist is responsible for completing mechanical and electrical assemblies and subassemblies to assist in the manufacturing of sign products. The Assembler specializes in manufacturing and assembling of sign products such as installing fasteners or connecting wires. They maintain an in-depth knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations, allowing them to safely operate heavy machinery and use resources appropriately. Assemblers aim to be as efficient and consistent as possible when putting together the product. They troubleshoot problems with their equipment and service it to ensure it works properly.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Gather materials and tools needed to perform the process of parts assemblies and subassemblies.
- Locate and arrange parts into position, manually or with hoists/cranes.
- Read an interpret blueprints and engineering drawings instructions to accurately perform assembly required.
- Utilize hand tools and electronic/pneumatic tooling to complete electrical and mechanically assemblies of signage products.
- Ability to create and Interpret technical documentation.
- Install lights and wiring according to blueprint and engineering drawings.
- Operate necessary machinery/equipment needed to perform completion of the job.
- Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers and measuring tapes.
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
- Follow prescribed safety guidelines and regulations to avoid injuries.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly conditions.
- Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
Job Requirements
Education: Required training in vocational school, related on-the-job experience, or a high school diploma or
GED. Signage manufacturing industry knowledge is preferred.
Work Experience: Minimum six months to 1 year of experience working in assembly preferred. Excellent hand- eye coordination, Controls and Instrumentation, Equipment Maintenance, Manufacturing Quality & Experience, Safety Management, Quality Focus, and able use Power Tools.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. May be required to do limited work outdoors. While performing job duties, employee may often change from one task to another of a different nature, subject to high level of stress/pressure.
Work Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
