Position Purpose:
Taking and organizing reservations, greeting and escorting guests to tables in the restaurant, maintaining menu cleanliness. Maintaining a courteous and efficient operation of the dining room to ensure guest satisfaction.
Essential Functions:
- Meet and greet guests as they arrive, then escort them to their table and assist with chairs.
- Set menus on chargers, and wish guests an enjoyable evening.
- Through Open Table, maintain proper layout of dining room, review reservations for special needs, arrange floor plan, maintain cover count sheet and seating distribution to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Answer reservations calls accurately, recording these in the reservation book.
- Thank the guests and wish them a good day/evening.
- Effectively communicate with customers and staff in a high volume, fast paced environment.
Supportive Functions:
- Maintain an open line of communication between guests, management and line employees.
- Perform other duties as requested, such as cleaning, assisting with side duties.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
- Knowledge of restaurant operations, to include appropriate staffing levels, service equipment and guest relations.
- Ability to read the English language to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, reservations, promotional materials, event orders and similar written materials.
- Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
- Ability to move throughout a crowded room to seat guests.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and to move quickly in a face pace environment.
- Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
Experience:
- Prior host experience preferred.
