Hinderliter Construction, Inc. is looking for an Underground Storage Tank (UST) Testing Technician to join our growing UST Testing and Compliance division. This position would be expected to perform visual compliance surveys, testing, and minor repairs at petroleum retail facilities across the Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois, and Missouri.
We are looking for a bright, mechanically-inclined individual who is observant, self-motivated, and demonstrates exceptional work ethic to join our team. Applicants must also have a clean driving record and the ability to attain required certifications.
The majority of work will be done within 180 miles of Evansville, and may include up to 2 overnight stays per week. A per diem is given for overnight work. A company truck and tools are provided.
Applicants are required to complete a DOT exam and drug test.
Responsibilities:
· Perform monthly and annual testing requirements on UST facilities including, but not limited to, Line Tightness Testing, Leak Detector Function Checks, Overfill Prevention Operability Checks, Release Detection Equipment Testing, Tank Tightness Testing, Sump Integrity Testing, and Hydrostatic Spill Bucket Testing
· Identify and diagnose issues with UST equipment through visual inspection and testing
· Attend training classes, both in person and online, to test for required certifications
· Completion and submittal of daily testing documents and/or inspection logs
· Drive company work truck to client job sites, up to 250 miles or more per day
· Out of town travel and stays are required
· Additional duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:
· Able to work under supervision and independently
· Valid driver’s license
· Excellent driving record
· Able to lift up to 60 pounds
· Position requires stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders
· Good electrical and mechanical aptitude
· Able to use hand and power tools
· Able to work and troubleshoot problems independently
· Able to learn, understand, and implement State regulatory requirements
· Follow strict safety and technical protocols
· Excellent communication skills; able to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with team members and customers
· Basic knowledge of computer systems - email, scanning, Wi-Fi, etc.
· Detail-oriented
· A current HAZWOPER certification is a plus, but not required.
· Able to obtain UST system testing certifications and manufacturer certifications on various fueling equipment
· Great attitude; receptive to change
· Extensive travel in company-furnished vehicle
· Ability to be away from home for a week at a time, with company-paid travel expenses
