GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

The Assistant Men's Basketball Coach is responsible for helping to build, recruit, and maintain a competitive men's basketball program on the Utica Campus consistent with all of the goals of Hinds Community College and the policies and procedures outlined in the Athletic Department Handbook.
Qualifications Requirements

Education: Bachelor's required; Master's degree preferred
Experience: 1-2 years of competitive college coaching experience.
Certificate/License: Familiar with MACCC and NJCAA governing rules
Education And/Or Experience
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.

- Represent Hinds Community College and the Athletic Department in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity and quality.
- Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of the department and the college, as well as the rules and regulations of the NJCAA and MACCC.
- Required to live on the Hinds Community College Utica Campus.
- Assist with all aspects of the men's basketball program; provides opportunities that challenge and support student-athletes to reach their full potential.
- Assist with the organization and administration of the basketball program, including but not limited to the following: recruiting, practice and game coaching, conditioning, academic monitoring, and public relations.
- Assist the head coach with recruiting plans and recruiting of potential student-athletes to the program.
- Assist the head coach in the scouting of opponents and in preparation of game and practice plans.
- Assist in monitoring all strength and conditioning activities for the program.
- Monitor all academics for student-athletes.
- Required to live on campus to facilitate good working relationships with faculty and staff and monitor student-athlete behavior (i.e., room checks and curfew enforcement).
- Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the Head Men's Basketball Coach and/or Director of Athletics that relates to the success of the program.
