Hinds Hospice, one of the most well-known and well-respected nonprofit agencies in California’s Central Valley and a pioneer in the practice of hospice and palliative care, is seeking a Part Time, Thrift Store Cashier to join our team.
Under direction and supervision of the Thrift Store Manager, Assistant Manager, and/or Supervisor, performs various customer service responsibilities and duties throughout the thrift store, including, but not limited to the following:
- Provides customer service throughout the store and at point of sale.
- Processes customer transactions at point of sale correctly and accurately, accepting approved forms of payment per company policy. Makes customer information entries into point of sale system.
- Packs customer purchases in bags or cartons, and assists with transporting packages to specified vehicle for customer, if applicable.
- Accepts and receives donated merchandise from donors per company policy; opens, and unpacks cartons or crates of donated merchandise; sorts and examines merchandise to determine salability or disposal.
- Determines valuation of merchandise and price per company policy; marks, attaches, or changes price tags directly on to merchandise.
- Stocks sales floor with merchandise, setting up merchandise displays and advertising signs throughout the store.
- Maintains store cleanliness by cleaning display cases, shelves, and aisle ways.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Compensation $16.50 hourly

Qualifications included but are not limited to:
- High School diploma or completion of GED program.
- Retail experience, including cash register operations and customer service.
- Knowledge of pricing used goods, familiarity with the techniques in promoting and selling merchandise, good organizational skills, and knowledge of store maintenance and safety.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with other employees, volunteers and the general public.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (i.e., push/pull/lift/carry items in excess of 30 lbs.)
- Weekend availability required.
