About the Role
We are seeking a mission-driven Engineering Manager to lead the engineering efforts behind our billing platform and operations. This individual will support a team of engineers (6-10 members) focused on building and maintaining critical billing products and tools. The role will require close collaboration with product, commercial, finance, and operations teams to develop solutions that enable seamless revenue recognition, billing cycles, and client configurations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, experience managing engineering teams, and familiarity with billing systems and processes. They should possess a deep understanding of data models, SQL, and data pipelines (e.g., Databricks) to ensure the accuracy and scalability of billing operations. This role will also require a strategic thinker who can identify opportunities to leverage AI to enhance billing systems and processes, ensuring they are robust and future-ready.
What You’ll Accomplish
- Build and Lead Billing Solutions : Lead the engineering team to design, build, and maintain billing products and platforms, including integrations with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and financial systems (e.g., NetSuite).
- Enable Business Decisions Through Billing Systems : Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deeply understand different billing activities and workflows that influence business decisions to bill customers accurately and efficiently.
- Leverage Data Expertise : Utilize strong skills in understanding data models, SQL, and data pipelines (e.g., Databricks) to develop solutions for managing revenue cycles, billing claims, invoicing, and visibility into billing logic.
- Innovate with AI : Creatively identify and implement AI-driven solutions to make the billing system more robust, improve accuracy, and streamline operational workflows.
- Drive Scalable Systems : Develop tools to support scalable contractual variations, enabling new lines of business and revenue models.
- Ensure Compliance and Governance : Develop and execute a technical roadmap to address data governance, security, and compliance in healthcare (e.g., HIPAA, HITRUST).
- Foster Team Excellence : Ensure high team performance through coaching, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
- Own the Delivery Pipeline : Oversee team planning processes, including backlog grooming, sprint prioritization, and retrospectives, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality solutions.
- Enhance Processes and Systems : Advocate for best practices in software development, billing workflows, and operational processes to meet organizational goals.
- Scale the Team : Support hiring and resource planning with a focus on diversity, technical excellence, and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Agile Development : Demonstrated success in roadmap planning, sprint execution, and team performance management.

This position will have an annual salary, plus equity and benefits. Please note the annual salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. The annual salary range for this position is $200,000 - $300,000.
