About the Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing cutting-edge mechanical solutions for our next-generation hardware products. You'll lead diverse projects from concept development to mass production, ensuring alignment with cross-functional teams such as electronics, firmware, and manufacturing partners along the way. Your expertise in various categories of mechanical engineering will help drive innovation while maintaining quality and keeping costs low. The ideal candidate has a passion for creating and transferring complex designs into production and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. You will have full ownership in this highly impactful role drawing upon your demonstrated previous success as a highly resourceful individual contributor. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for project development is required, approximately 6-8 weeks per year.
What You’ll Accomplish
Design and develop innovative mechanical solutions for next-generation hardware alongside the broader hardware team.
Lead a variety of mechanical design projects from conception to production, including creating prototypes and manufacturing equipment such as assembly and test fixtures.
Support manufacturing and sustaining engineering, with a focus on implementing design for manufacturability and assembly techniques, helping with process development, and providing failure analysis assistance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners, including manufacturing, electronics, firmware, and vendors.
Basic Qualifications
5 years of professional experience in mechanical or product design engineering roles.
Professional experience with 3D CAD modeling and 2D engineering drawings.
Professional experience with various manufacturing processes and design for manufacturing / assembly (DFM / DFA).
Professional experience with prototyping and basic machine shop equipment.
Professional experience with part joining techniques, tolerance stackup analyses, and mechanical testing methods (e.g., drop and water ingress testing).
Professional experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in medical device development, adhering to FDA and ISO 13485 standards.
Skilled in designing electromechanical wearable devices and soft goods.
Proven experience transitioning designs to manufacturing.
Professional experience with quality management systems (QMS).
Knowledge of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and basic electronics principles.
Willingness to travel for vendor and manufacturing support.
Compensation
This position will have an annual salary, plus equity and benefits. Please note the annual salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. The annual salary range for this position is $148,000 to $222,000.
