What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Care Specialist for Children position at Hinge Point Youth Homes?
Hinge Point Youth Homes is looking for Direct Support Specialists to serve up to eight children living in a children’s residential program. These children range in age from 7-17 and are most often a part of the foster care system. They have support needs such as medical, behavioral, developmental and basic living skills. As a Direct Care Specialist, you would work with a clinical team to provide the most appropriate and evidence-based services for the children. Direct Care Specialists will receive formal and on the job training in how to best meet the needs of each individual child. Most importantly, Direct Care Specialists will engage with each child to ensure that they are having positive experiences both in the home and in the community.

Applicants will need to be able and comfortable with assisting residents with personal care and hygiene needs. Competitive candidates will demonstrate a desire to support these children in positive growth and development through developing positive relationships with the children in the home. Competitive candidates will also have a willingness to work with and follow guidance from clinical staff and contribute to programing and behavioral plans implemented for each individual. Finally, competitive staff will also have the desire to support the children in extracurricular activities and fun community outings.
Requirements for this posting:
Must be over 19 years of age
Have a high school degree or equivalent
Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
Ability to work an 8-12 hour shift which may include days, nights and weekends
Be able to pass an enhanced background check
Have good communication skills
Adhere to the alcohol, drug and tobacco policy, which is no substances allowed on the property or in the presence of children.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
