What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance-Field Specialist position at Hino Motors MFG USA Inc?
Hino Motors Manufacturing is an OEM that assembles trucks in West Virginia, automotive components in Arkansas, and operates a parts distribution center in California.
We are currently seeking a Field Specialist for the Quality Assurance department located in corporate office in Novi, MI reporting directly to Field Quality Assistant General Manager. This individual will be responsible for the investigation of customer complaints resulting from component quality, assembly quality and/or design related deficiencies identified in the field for Hino trucks in the US and Canadian markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze reported quality issues identified in the United States and Canada.
- Track all issues that fall under core responsibility through completion including the consolidation of documents created and gathered throughout the investigation process.
- Independently review, analyze, and organize warranty data as well as other field data sources as it relates to quality deficiencies in the field.
- Measure components against drawings and specification sheets to confirm deficiencies.
- Hands-on testing of failed components to aid in root cause analysis including the documentation of all test results and findings.
- Travel to Hino dealerships, body builders, or customer locations to evaluate vehicles and collect data and/or parts.
- Travel to a variety of manufacturing facilities to review and evaluate their manufacturing process and quality confirmation processes.
- Author reports for field activities that include but that are not limited to off-site supplier trips, vehicle investigations, and warranty analysis.
- Liaison between Hino US and Canada plants, suppliers, and Hino Japan.
- Provide hands-on (on-site/off-site) technical support for quality related projects, as well as other engineering led projects when necessary.
- Develop and author technical work procedures.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Automotive Technology.
- 1-3 yrs. of hands-on experience including a background as an automotive technician.
- Background working within an office environment, analyzing data and reporting.
- Previous experience working as a field service engineer helpful.
- Previous experience working in an automotive technical support call center or hotline helpful.
- Previous experience in manufacturing or assembly facility helpful.
- Previous experience working with a Japanese company helpful.
Required Skills:
- High degree of mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills required.
- High level of hands-on experience with automotive based components and systems.
- Excellent PC skills including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Microsoft Outlook.
- Ability to read and review technical documents and drawings.
- Ability to utilize diagnostic tools for confirmation and testing.
- Organized, highly motivated self-starter and able to manage multiple tasks autonomously.
- Excellent communication skills, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently.
- Customer service skill set.
Travel Requirements: Up to 35% domestic and international (Canada) travel.
