What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coach position at Hinsdale School District?
Overview
We seek a dedicated and enthusiastic Baseball Coach for the Middle School Boys team. This is generally a Monday-Friday position, with weekend hours as needed.
The Coach is paid a stipend at the end of the baseball season.
Duties
- Work with student athletes to play their best individually and also as a team.
- Attend all practices and games or designate an adult pre-approved by the Athletics Director.
- Mentor the players in good sportsmanship .
- Attend mandatory coaches meetings and all other required meetings and trainings.
- Promote safety by checking the playing area and equipment before each practice and games.
- Distribute and collect uniforms.
- Select and guide team Captains with the qualities to promote leadership.
- Assist in the prevention, care, and treatment of sports injuries.
- Promote personal fitness and proper nutrition.
- Abide by the rules of the game and respect the game officials.
- Develop working relationships with the Athletic Director and administration.
- Reinforce the expectations in the Athletic Code of Conduct.
Skills
- Must be concussion, CPR, and first aid certified.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior coaching experience preferred, including knowledge about sports equipment, personal fitness, and safety.
- Knowledge of the rules, strategies, and technique of the sport.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to set an example for the players.
- Excellent communication skills to inspire and motivate the players to improve their skills.
