Job Summary
The Hinsdale School District (SAU 92) is seeking Para Educators who possess a genuine desire to provide classroom assistance to special education students, and who are sensitive to, and skilled in, working with a diverse student population.
This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students while working collaboratively within a dedicated team of educators.
These are school-year (10-month) positions.
Duties
- Maintain student confidentiality.
- Report student absences to the special education case manager.
- Stay up-to-date with the IEP(s) of student(s) in your care.
- Develop an understanding of the students' needs. Seek guidance as needed from the special education staff.
- Establish and maintain a relationship of trust with the teacher, special educator and student.
- Follow case manager directives in implementing student programs.
- Model positive learning behaviors: arrive to class on time, use appropriate voice level for interactions with students, etc.
- Act as a liaison between classroom teachers and special educators by relaying information regarding handouts, projects, due dates, homework, behavior, modifications and accommodations.
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of instructional materials.
- Assist student with organizational challenges in organizing student’s materials as accommodated in the student’s IEP.
- Maintain student folders, progress charts and behavior plans as required by special educator.
- Assist with daily living skills as needed (bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, toileting, transferring, walking, climbing stairs, eating).
- Implement OT, PT, and Speech activities as directed by specialists involved with IEPs or 504s.
- Share school duties as assigned (before school, recess, lunch and after school).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain New Hampshire state certification/license in the area of Para educator.
- Ability to complete necessary education related classes to maintain licensure during employment.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $15.75 per hour
Expected hours: 33.75 per week
