We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Dental Hygiene Assistant to join our dental team. The ideal candidate will assist the dental hygienist in delivering top-quality care to patients, ensuring a comfortable and efficient experience. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the dental hygienist during procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and equipment.
- Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments, and operatories following strict hygiene protocols.
- Greet patients and prepare them for dental hygiene treatments.
- Record and maintain accurate patient medical and dental histories as directed by the hygienist.
- Take dental X-rays as needed.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Ensure patient comfort before, during, and after procedures.
- Manage and restock hygiene-related supplies and materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming treatment environment.
- Schedule and confirm hygiene appointments as needed.
- Assist with charting and updating patient records in compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification in dental assisting (preferably with coronal polishing and X-ray certification)
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience in a dental office setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, and procedures.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Work Environment:
- Dental office setting with adherence to OSHA and infection control protocols.
- Requires standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of light supplies.
