In-House Health Attorney

Hire Counsel is seeking a health attorney with in-house experience with health insurance products, specifically looking for experience with: Understanding of federal and state insurance regulations particularly those impacting Medicare and Medicare supplement plans and short-term medical insurance. Familiarity with health care regulations including Affordable Care Act and Medicare. Experience providing legal advice to various departments including compliance, marketing, and underwriting. Experience working with outside counsel. Experience with major medical or ancillary benefits and life insurance a plus.

Responsibilities of the Health Attorney

• Must be familiar with state insurance regulations
• Will be fielding questions from business partners who are building a new product and must make sure it's in compliance with state laws
• Could be some litigation involved, would review pleadings from outside counsel and give advice
• Understand ACA plans and short-term medical plans
• Will develop relationships with internal business partners they are supporting. ATTEND MEETINGS (WEEKLY PRODUCT UPDATE MEETINGS, FOR EXAMPLE). Needs to have good interpersonal skills and be comfortable on camera

Qualifications for the Litigation Attorney

• Juris Doctorate and member in good standing of state of practicing
• Three plus years or more experience
• Any Life Insurance industry familiarity is a bonus!
• Insurance defense preferred
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the internet
• Ability to work well with others on a team
• Must be able to handle a large case inventory
• Ability to work in a remote work environment

Insurance Defense Attorney Project Details

• Expected Start Date: ASAP;
• Expected Duration: 6 months
• Hours: Full-time (40/week)
• Pay rate: $75/hour;
• Location: REMOTE CST
