What are the responsibilities and job description for the Remote Complex Financial Litigation Research & Writing Attorney position at Hire Counsel?
We are working with a full service New York law firm seeking a sophisticated legal research and writing attorney with six to eight (6-8) years of experience to work, typically thirty to forty hours (40) per week on an in-office or remote, contract basis or, possibly, a temp to perm basis, in support of complex financial litigation, including but not limited to matters involving digital assets. Please note that the job allows the possibility, though not the guarantee, of becoming permanent. In the most probable scenario, the work is expected to last for three to four (3-4) months. The role requires superb writing and research skills, a federal clerkship or state supreme court clerkship, Big Law experience, and graduation from a top-15 law school. New York licensure is preferred, though competent attorneys otherwise fulfilling the job requirements will certainly be considered and are welcome to apply, as long as they as long as they reside in the New York Metropolitan area or are, otherwise, within the Eastern Time Zone. Experience with digital assets litigation is a plus. The compensation offered is $205/hr. All candidates must supply a writing sample consisting in completely unedited work product, for example: an untouched first draft. Candidates must be prepared, as well, to take a writing analysis test in the final round of interviews, if requested.
REQUIREMENTS
Support firm attorneys in complex financial litigation as follows.
- Perform assiduous, careful research regarding all issues germane to the matters assigned.
- Prepare all writings necessary in all matters assigned, for example: pleadings; discovery and discovery responses; motions and responses thereto (including pre and post-trial motions); legal memoranda and analyses; briefs (including post-trial and appellate briefs); and all other necessary litigation documents.
- Prepare trial notebooks, exhibits, and other materials requisite to trial and appeal.
- Perform all other legal work requested and/or required for the successful outcome of each case.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post graduate federal judicial clerkship or state supreme court clerkship experience
- Graduation from a top-15 law school
- Big Law experience
- Great legal research skills
- Great legal writing skills directed, for example, to drafting pleadings, discovery and discovery responses, motions and responses thereto (including pre and post-trial motions), legal memoranda and analyses, briefs (including post-trial and appellate briefs), and all other necessary litigation documents
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and prepare complex legal cases
- A passion for complex financial litigation
- Experience with complex financial litigation
- Experience with digital assets litigation (preferred)
- Six to eight years (6-8) years of experience precisely
- JD degree and bar admission to any state of the U.S., with a preference for New York licensure
