An expanding commercial construction company is seeking a results-oriented and people-focused Area Manager to drive profitability and growth while overseeing all heavy civil commercial construction Project Managers within the Savannah, Georgia territory.
This is a pivotal role responsible for the strategic direction, performance, and overall success of multiple projects and project teams.
- Location: Savannah, GA Metro Area
- Salary: $180-220K bonus benefits
- Schedule: Mon – Fri, 8 am – 5 pm (period evenings & weekends)
- Travel: Local travel to Savannah project sites
What You Will Do
- Strategic Leadership & Vision: Provide strategic direction and leadership to Project Managers to drive profitability within the Savannah area, ensuring alignment with company goals, client expectations, and safety standards.
- Team Leadership & Development: Directly supervise and mentor Project Managers, fostering their professional growth and development. Build high-performing teams through effective communication, delegation, and performance management.
- Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong business development, sales, and client relationships, acting as a key point of escalation and ensuring client satisfaction across all projects within the area.
- Financial Accountability: Take ownership of the financial performance of the Savannah area projects, including budget management, cost control, forecasting, and overall Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility at an area level.
- Risk Management & Safety Compliance: Ensure consistent and rigorous implementation of safety protocols and risk management strategies across all projects within the area.
- Resource Allocation & Management: Strategically allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, across multiple projects to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Subcontractor & Vendor Management Oversight: Oversee the selection, negotiation, and management of subcontractors and vendors across projects, ensuring quality workmanship, adherence to project specifications, and favorable contractual terms.
- Process Improvement & Standardization: Identify opportunities for process improvement and standardization across project management practices within the Savannah area to enhance efficiency and consistency.
- Reporting & Communication: Provide regular and comprehensive reports on project status, financial performance, and key performance indicators to senior management. Maintain clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
What You Will Bring
- Extensive Heavy Civil Construction Experience: 15-20 years of progressive experience in the heavy civil construction industry
- Proven Leadership & Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, mentor, and develop project management teams. Experience in setting performance expectations, providing constructive feedback, and driving team success.
- Strong Business Acumen & Financial Management: Deep understanding of project financials, including budgeting, cost control, forecasting, P&L management, and risk assessment at a multi-project level.
- Exceptional Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to build strong relationships and effectively interact with clients, internal teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Strategic Thinking & Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to think strategically, analyze complex situations, identify potential challenges, and develop effective solutions across multiple projects.
- Strong Organizational & Time Management Skills: Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities, delegate effectively, and ensure efficient workflow across the area.
- Commitment to Quality & Excellence: A strong drive to consistently exceed expectations and ensure the delivery of high-quality projects.
- Knowledge of Local Market (Savannah, GA): Familiarity with the Savannah, GA construction market, including local subcontractors, vendors, and regulatory requirements, is a plus.
- Relevant Education or Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is strongly preferred, or equivalent extensive leadership experience in heavy civil construction project management.
Salary : $180,000 - $220,000
