Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager of Technical Accounting to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of US GAAP with a specific focus on derivative technical accounting. This role will be responsible for providing guidance on complex accounting matters, leading the implementation of new accounting standards, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise on derivative accounting under ASC 815 (Derivatives and Hedging).
- Evaluate, document, and implement appropriate accounting treatment for derivative transactions including hedging activities.
- Partner with treasury, legal, and other cross-functional teams to assess the accounting implications of financial instruments.
- Manage the preparation of technical accounting memos and position papers.
- Monitor, interpret, and implement new accounting standards and provide training to the finance team as necessary.
- Support financial statement preparation and ensure accurate disclosure of derivative transactions in accordance with US GAAP.
- Collaborate with external auditors and respond to technical accounting inquiries.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures related to derivative instruments.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to accounting staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
- 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and/or relevant industry experience.
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP, specifically ASC 815 (Derivatives and Hedging).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in preparing technical accounting documentation.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and provide actionable insights to business partners.
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams and driving results.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience in the financial services, energy, or commodities industries.
- Familiarity with treasury operations and risk management.
- Knowledge of financial systems and ERP platforms.
Salary : $150,000 - $170,000
