Hire Score is hiring the Director Operational Excellence role for one of our primary clients. This is a hybrid role in Madison, New Jersey and applicants must be able to work on-site at least 3 days weekly. Role Overview
The Director Operational Excellence will support organizational goals by utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve processes, policies, operational efficiency, technology, and profitability. The role involves fostering a culture of continuous improvement by leading activities that involve personnel from all levels of the organization. Leading a team, they will refine processes, services, and products with a focus on root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and sustainable long-term growth. Additionally, the director will guide the company’s strategic direction by managing resources to optimize workflow.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Alignment
- Establish and implement strategies that have mid-to-the-long-term impact on business results in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Partner with executive and senior management on gaps and opportunities for integration of process improvements.
- Help guide the company’s strategic direction by providing and managing the resources needed to improve and maintain the flow of work.
- Lead team of managers and individual contributors; identify and train talent for new or existing roles.
Process Improvement and Operational Efficiency
- Develop and establish quantitative and qualitative metrics and KPIs to monitor efficiency and effectiveness of current processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct root cause analysis for major and minor operations problems across the organization.
- Value stream map to assess, identify, plan, action and drive improvements through to completion.
- Develop and implement a continuous improvement roadmap, including project selection methodology.
- Provide support and leadership to the organization on the use of Lean and Six Sigma continuous improvement tools.
- Create and maintain standard business process procedures, utilized for training the organization on current processes; update and train as changes are implemented.
Technology and Change Management Initiatives
- Collaborate with internal and external technology experts to implement best-in-class digitization initiatives.
- Evaluate the impact of planned organizational changes, define success metrics and measurements and develop and implement change management plans.
Financial Oversight and ROI Management
- Evaluate and ensure financial/non-financial ROI of identified projects.
- Oversee department budget to ensure that funds are allocated appropriately and used according to plan.
Basic Qualifications/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations, Business Administration or relevant education; advanced degree preferred
- 12-15 years of operations experience with increasing responsibility, including leadership
- Demonstrated large-scale strategic continuous improvement implementations
- Proficiency in OpEx tools, including SIPOC diagrams, VOC, varieties of value stream mapping, scatter plots, data collection, cause and effect, FMEA, etc.
- Six Sigma Certification
- Ability to travel minimum of 20%
- Ability to be hybrid in Madison, New Jersey at least 3 days a week.
