Our client, a dynamic and fast-paced construction services company seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee accounting and daily financial operations, and help drive the next stage of growth.
This is a full-time, on-site opportunity located in either Houston or La Porte, TX.
About the Role
Reporting directly to leadership, the Accounting Manager will oversee a small accounting team (3 processors/clerks) and take charge of the company’s day-to-day accounting functions, financial reporting, and month-end close process. This person must be hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a high-energy, evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all daily accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll support, bank recs, and job cost tracking
- Lead and execute timely month-end close
- Produce internal financial reports and maintain GAAP compliance
- Supervise and support 3 accounting staff
- Collaborate across departments to ensure accurate financial flow
- Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting processes
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support audit processes and reporting
- Use or learn Viewpoint Spectrum software (experience a bonus)
Requirements & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA or CPA-track a plus
- 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction or service-based industries
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, etc.)
- Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum is a plus
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing business
