Our client, a dynamic fast-paced soft craft/construction and rental services company in Laurel, Maryland, is looking for a Controller to oversee financial operations and support overall company growth.
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will play a key role within a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment, driving process improvements, financial accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the accounting function, including the general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Supervise and mentor a team of support staff
- Foster a positive learning environment
- Prepare, analyze, and present timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Develop and implement strong internal controls to protect assets and ensure compliance with regulations
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and collections, resolving discrepancies and ensuring timely processing
- Support the ERP migration from QuickBooks to Viewpoint Spectrum software, optimizing systems and processes
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to align operations with company goals
- Provide financial insights that inform decisions and drive profitability
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- 6-12 years accounting financial experience in construction accounting, equipment rental, or related services preferred
- Experience in a leadership role with a history of team development
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with Viewpoint Spectrum a plus
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and dedication to delivering accurate results
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across departments
