Structural Engineer

Overview:
Hire Talent recruits on behalf of mid-sized emerging companies throughout the United States. Our client is a mid-sized professional engineering, surveying and planning firm servicing the residential and commercial industries. We are looking for a Structural Engineer to join the team.
Responsibilities of the position:
- Provide design for structural components necessary for the development of residential or commercial projects
- Perform structural wood and steel calculations for projects
- Perform reinforced concrete calculations for building slabs, spread footings, retaining walls, etc.
- Correctly apply national codes and standards such as IRC, IBC, ASCE-7, ACI, and AISC
- Knowledge of updates on new engineering processes, techniques, and IMS and standards.
- Ensure that effective methods and design/engineering techniques are used
- Provide technical guidance to employees and customers
- Contribute to a team environment by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and background:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- P.E. designation in Texas preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of design codes such as IRC, IBC, ASCE-7, ACI, and AISC
- 6 plus years of experience residential (single or multifamily) engineering experience. Commercial background preferred but not required.
- Interface and communicate with clients and project team members
- Ability and willingness to quickly change work assignments
- Proficient with analytical software
- Experience using AutoCAD, RISA & Microsoft Office Suite
