Our client is looking for three experienced, passionate, and energetic Summer Camp Counselors to lead their summer program for school age children in Washington D.C.. The ideal candidate must be willing to work with children 6- to 12-years-old.
Schedule
- This is a Direct Hire position with the school
- Summer program runs from 6/16/25 - 8/22/25 (10-weeks)
- One counselor needed for each of the following shifts; 7:00am-4:00pm, 8:00am-5:00pm, and 9:00am-6:00pm
Salary
$17.50 - $29.80/hour pending education, credentials, and professional Early Childhood Education experience
Requirements
- Oversee campers to ensure their safety and well-being
- Enforce camp rules and guidelines
- Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents as they arise
- Plan, lead, and participate in camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, and team-building exercises
- Encourage camper participation and ensure activities are engaging for all skill levels
- Build positive relationships with campers to create a welcoming atmosphere
- Mediate conflicts and promote teamwork and inclusivity among campers
- Act as a role model by displaying professionalism, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
- Communicate effectively with fellow staff members and camp leadership
- Keep parents/guardians informed about their child’s experiences and any concerns
- Assist with daily setup, cleanup, and organization of camp facilities and activities
- Help maintain a clean and organized camp environment
Qualifications
- REQUIRED Education: CDA, AA, or BA in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Educational Psychology, or related field
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations
- Must meet background check eligibility
