Manager, Aircraft Maintenance – Middle River, MD

Our client is seeking a Manager of Aircraft Maintenance for one of our valued clients in Middle River, MD. This role offers an exciting leadership opportunity within private aviation, overseeing maintenance operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving operational efficiency.

About The Role

As a Manager of Aircraft Maintenance, you will be responsible for supervising aircraft maintenance operations, optimizing workflows, and leading a team of skilled technicians. Your role will ensure safety, quality, and efficiency while fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance operations for company-operated aircraft, ensuring all scheduled maintenance is completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards
  • Coordinate daily maintenance tasks with Maintenance Control, optimizing personnel utilization and tracking work progress
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, manufacturer maintenance manuals, and FAA regulations in all maintenance activities
  • Review and maintain accurate documentation for maintenance work performed
  • Provide recommendations to senior leadership for process improvements and operational adjustments
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment and ensure adherence to safety procedures
  • Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining overall responsibility for maintenance operations
  • Manage recruiting efforts, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and extending offers
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development for maintenance personnel
  • Conduct performance evaluations, develop team goals, and monitor progress through metrics and scorecards
  • Foster team cohesion, promoting collaboration and efficiency in achieving department objectives
  • Administer disciplinary actions or commendations as needed, ensuring proper documentation
  • Lead labor planning efforts, ensuring optimal shift coverage and operational readiness
  • Act as a key liaison between maintenance, materials management, quality assurance, and flight operations teams
  • Guide the team during AOG situations, maintaining composure and driving swift problem resolution
  • Support compliance audits, coordinate vendor relationships, and oversee maintenance tracking systems
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate
  • 5–7 years of hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance, with expertise in Embraer Phenom 300
  • Previous leadership experience in a Part 145 Repair Station or Part 135 operation
  • Strong understanding of inspection processes, MEL/CDL procedures, and FAA compliance
  • Experience leading maintenance teams and managing technician performance in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to balance operational urgency with safety and regulatory compliance
  • Strong labor planning and shift management capabilities
  • Knowledge of aircraft availability metrics, schedule reliability, and return-to-service processes
  • Proficiency in maintenance tracking systems (CAMP, Corridor, or similar)
  • Solution-oriented mindset, capable of leading AOG response teams
  • Exceptional communication skills, comfortable liaising with flight operations, vendors, and auditors
  • Collaborative and adaptable, thriving within a high-performance, customer-centric culture

Preferred

  • Experience managing Mobile Service Units (MSUs)
  • Familiarity with vendor relationships and third-party maintenance support
  • Leadership experience in safety briefings or safety stand-downs

Compensation & Benefits

Salary for this role ranges from $105,000 to $175,000, based on experience, qualifications, and skills. Additionally, discretionary performance-based incentives may apply.
