About the Role
As a Master Equipment Designer at Hire Velocity, you will play a vital part in planning and designing the form, look, or routing of equipment or systems within our fabrication or installation processes. Job Description
Our ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and revising 2D drawings and schematics, as well as supporting documents such as bills of material or change notices. You will review design interfaces with ship structures and other systems using CAD models and drawings to eliminate interferences and verify form, fit, and function. Additionally, you will perform quality checks and provide approvals for drawings or documents created by other team members.
Responsibilities
• Develop detailed designs for equipment or systems, taking into account safety standards, industry regulations, and customer requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of design elements
• Utilize CAD software to create accurate and efficient designs
• Conduct thorough reviews of design interfaces to identify potential issues
• Provide expert guidance and support to junior designers and engineers
• Stay up-to-date with industry developments and emerging technologies
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements
• In-depth knowledge of insulation systems, joiner bulkhead systems, sheathing, ceiling systems, deck covering systems, doors, furniture, galley equipment, gratings and battens, and related plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and piping systems
• Ability to apply safety standards and adhere to industry regulations, including T9640-AC-DSP-010_HAB Habitability Design Criteria and Practices Manual, OPNAV INST 9640.1C Shipboard Habitability Program, various MIL-STD's and MIL-PRF's, IMO/ FTP Code, SOLAS, and MIL-S-901 Shock Classification
• Associate degree or technical school in an engineering-related field; commiserate experience may be considered
• Ten or more years' experience required
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
