Job Summary:
We are seeking a chemical plant procurement specialist to manage the procurement of goods and services required for our chemical plant operations, both indirect and direct, to ensure smooth and cost-effective production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for obtaining goods and services required by the organization, including:
- Indirect Operations (e.g., office supplies, computers, travel, maintenance, machine parts)
- Direct Operations (e.g., raw materials and services for manufacturing, production, or construction; products for retail)
- Under general supervision, manage various aspects of supplier relationships, including:
- Contract negotiations
- Delivery and quality performance
- Cost and inventory management
- Customer satisfaction
- Manage purchase order execution and product delivery, including:
- Placement of on-time schedule agreements
- Mitigation of billing adjustments and terminations
- Execution of cost reduction goals
- Select and negotiate with approved vendors, as needed
- Substitute items within pre-approved guidelines
- Review bids and contracts submitted by lower-level buyers before orders are placed
- Actively drive supplier improvement activities and supplier program reviews
- Foster the use of continuous improvement tools to enhance:
- Health, Safety, and Environmental performance (HS&E)
- Quality, delivery, financial performance, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction
- Conduct all business activities in accordance with company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, legal compliance requirements, and core values
Skills and Qualifications:
- 4 years of procurement, sourcing, or similar experience
- SAP experience
- Strong knowledge of purchasing practices, principles, and procedures
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Prior experience with materials management in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to analyze and present statistical data
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel
- Ability to balance multiple projects in a challenging, fast-paced environment
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
