POSITION DESCRIPTION/PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Hired is seeking a Family Coach who will develop trusting relationships with families through home visits (in-person and virtual), family events, and referrals to external resources. They will use Parents as Teachers’ (PAT) evidenced-based curriculum and culturally responsive coaching to focus on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being. The Family Coaches will partner together and serve culturally diverse families in Ramsey and Hennepin Counties (with potentially a few families in Dakota County). This position is eligible for hybrid schedule working from home and in the office. It will include travel to meet with families in their home or community. This position requires a vehicle, license, and auto insurance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Recruitment
- Recruit families for Hired’s Family Home Visiting Program internally and externally
- Build effective relationships with other Hired staff members
Home Visits
- Each Family Coach will maintain a caseload up to 20 families, conducting home visits with each family biweekly or monthly. Home visits may be held in the family’s home, at a location in the community, virtually, or in our office locations.
- Complete screenings and assessments for family and children
- Develop, monitor, and review goals with each family
Monthly Family Connections
- Provide family connections to give families an opportunity to build social connections with each other, engage in parent-child interaction activities, and increase their knowledge of ways to support children's development
Community Resources
- Build partnerships with resources vital to the success of the family
- Connect families to resources that help them reach their goals and address their needs
- Help parents and children transition to other services as needed, to preschool, or to kindergarten
Case Management & Continuous Quality Improvement
- Maintain and submit in a timely way all required family and program documentation in required electronic file
- Meet with supervisor as necessary to discuss procedures, best practices, and quality improvement
- Participate in at least 2 hours of reflective supervision monthly
- Obtain competency-based professional development and renew parent educator certification annually
- Participate in continuous quality improvement and Parents as Teachers Advisory Board
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/PROGRAM SPECIFIC
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies for program activities
- Meet all program goals as outlined in contract
- Fulfill obligations as a mandated reporter
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Two years of education in early childhood education, social work, health, psychology, or a related field is recommended (or equivalent degree outside of the US) OR two years supervised work experience with young children and/or parents within a community setting.
- Preferred Bilingual – Somali or Spanish
- May require occasional evenings and weekends with flexible schedule

Education and Experience Minimum Requirements: Two years of education in early childhood education, social work, health, psychology, or a related field is recommended (or equivalent degree outside of the US) OR two years supervised work experience with young children and/or parents within a community setting.
Physical Requirements Able to sit for extended periods, perform computer and data entry functions, and actively engage with families often sitting on the floor.
Work Environment May vary, semi-sedentary involving office and fieldwork. Use of general office equipment. May be required to a.) Maintain regular business hours daily, b.) Provide service outside of standard business hours, c.) Provide services at a partner organization, community site, or home visit.
