Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Yard/Warehouse Assistant to join our construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for various tasks within the construction yard, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have experience in materials handling and an understanding of warehouse processes. You will play a crucial role in supporting our Forklift Operator while adhering to safety standards.
Duties
- Assisting Forklift Operator by helping rig items to be picked.
- Helping carry/load guardrail components and other bridge components.
- Build pallets and prepare shipments for distribution to ensure timely delivery.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to maintain an organized and efficient workspace.
- Yard maintenance duties may include weed eating, sweeping and other miscellaneous maintenance activities.
- Keeping track of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Stacking or staging various guardrail and bridge materials on the yard.
- Follow OSHA regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report any mechanical issues as necessary.
- Engage in heavy lifting of products as required, ensuring proper lifting techniques are utilized to prevent injury.
- Assist in inventory management by tracking stock levels and reporting discrepancies.
Skills
- Proficient in materials handling with experience in a distribution center environment.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation, particularly cherry pickers and order pickers.
- Construction/mechanical knowledge is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing inventory and orders.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
