Position Summary
Our company has an opening for a full-time Housing rights attorney who will be responsible to handle all manner of Landlord-Tenant matters for Broward County low-income residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Attorney will be responsible for all phases of case work, including:
- Attendance at court proceedings.
- Interviewing clients and witnesses.
- Discovery, investigations, negotiations, legal research and appeals.
- Attorney will be expected to spot and address impact issues that affect various segments of the client community.
- Attorney will be expected to comply with all program and unit forms and directives, complete case reports, funding reports and grant applications, train and supervise paralegals and legal interns, and other duties that may be assigned by their supervising attorney, Director of Advocacy, or Executive Director.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to prepare civil law cases, analyze and prepare a variety of legal documents, conduct research on legal problems and to prepare legal opinions.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees.
- Ability to maintain effective, compassionate communication with clients.
- Ability to serve the general public, co-workers, and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, regardless of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, marital status, political affiliation, familial status, disability, sexual orientation, pregnancy, or gender identity and expression.
Education & Experience
- Active membership in the Florida State Bar.
